William Austin.
William was the son of Joseph Henry and Lavinia and was born in 1895, he served with his brother Henry in the North Staffs regiment in the first world war. William married Margaret France in 1916 in Audley and had three children:

The 1911 Census records show William living at 15 Mellard Street in Wereton Audley, with his parents family. He is aged 16 and working as a Blacksmith in a coal mine above ground.
William joined the North Staffordshire Regiment with his brother Henry and fought on the Somme in France in WW1. He survived the war unlike his brother Henry who was killed.
Roy apparently had a bad speech impediment and could hardly talk. His father would not let Roy have any special attention to cure this problem. Roy went to work for a bakers and stayed there all his life and ended up as the bakery manager.
Roy Austin married Mavis Taylor in Audley in 1958 and had at least one child a
daughter named Jane Austin.
